Gasquet olvidó que vino a jugar al tenis

David Nalbandian, luego de consagrarse campeón en el Masters de Madrid, llega a la final del Masters de París, luego de vencer de una manera contundente al francés Richard Gasquet. Pese a esta derrota, el francés, se transformó en el último clasificado para el Masters de Shangai. David no tiene ya lugar en ese torneo.

El resultado fue 6-4 y 6-2, pero el partido fue un simple trámite para el argentino, que no tuvo ninguna dificultad en vencer al francés, en su propia tierra.

El partido duró solamente una hora con ocho minutos. Nalbandian ni comenzó a sudar, que el partido ya estaba terminado.

Durante el primer set, que duró tan solo 29 minutos, Nalbandian estuvo muy sólido desde el fondo de la cancha, dando golpes fuertes y planos con ángulos increíbles, que dejaban siempre mal parado a Gasquet.

David tuvo su gran ayuda también en su saque y devolución de servicio, que como siempre le dan una ventaja extra sobre cualquier jugador. En este partido especialmente, usó una gran cantidad de drops, en su mayoría bien usados, que dejaban siempre a Gasquet a kilómetros de la pelota.

En el segundo set, Nalbandian ganaba 5-1, y parecía que la historia se cerraría pronto, pero el argentino se relajó y perdió tres games seguidos. Hizo errores tontos con algunos puntos demasiado confiado por lo que había sido hasta el momento el partido. Corrigió su juego y liquidó el partido.

En la final de mañana se enfrentará al español número dos del mundo: Rafael Nadal. El Rafa viene de un gran partido contra el chipriota Baghdatis, que duró dos horas y media. Por lo que Nalbandian lleva la ventaja: va a estar descanzado jugando contra un jugador desgastado.

Gasquet: "I'm very happy today. It was not easy to go into the court. I knew I was qualified. I was very happy. It was a real achievement. I never thought two weeks ago that I could make it for the Masters back in Madrid. Qualifying for the Masters is incredible for me.

"I thought, well, that's the way it is, and now I need to win. But I really believe he was good in winning that match because I was really not as good as Nalbandian. I was a lower level. Although I lost that match, I'm very happy about this week here. It's exceptional for me to go over there. Two, three years ago I was watching that on TV. I was thinking, This is the other end of the world. The Masters is so difficult. Now I am there."

Nalbandian: "I'm feeling very good, playing great. Maybe I thought that I would wake up a little tired today from the match yesterday, but I feel very good from the beginning of the match. But it's tough to say if I'm feeling better than 2005, this match or that match. But I'm feeling great at the moment.I think I play incredible, perfect, almost perfect until the 5-2 in the second set. I would be playing perfect if I finished in that moment. So I think always there is a thing to improve."
